James B. Pounders

U.S. Veteran

James B. Pounders, 81, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Mr. Pounders was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Pounders Barber Shop in Iuka where he worked as a barber for 52 years. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Stanley Magill and Bro. Doug Christy. Interment will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers include Jarrod Warren, Clifton Worley, Jay Nail, Wade Mathis, Bryan Pounders, and Dale Enlow. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Woodruff Pounders of Iuka, MS; two sons, Donald Pounders and wife, Gladys “Gay”, and Delwyn Pounders and wife, Marilyn, all of Saltillo, MS; one daughter, Deborah Pounders Warren of Poplarville, MS; one brother, L. C. Pounders of Killen, AL; four sisters, Jewel Hale of Killeen, TX, Hester Enlow and Maxine Swedenburg, both of Columbus, MS, and Juanita Woodruff of Holcut, MS; eleven grandchildren, Rebecca Pounders Mathis of Woodland, MS, Martha Pounders Vance of Louisville, KY, Bryan Pounders of Saltillo, MS, Jarrod Warren of Maricopa, AZ, Kirsten Warren Worley and Lorrie Warren, both of Poplarville, MS, Edana Pounders Nail of Fulton, MS, Mindy Pounders Breaux of Tyler, TX, Mallory Torres Safely of Atlanta, GA, Micah Torres of Tupelo, MS, and Jordan Redmond of Saltillo, MS; and eleven great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House at www.sanctuaryhospicehouse.com, or by calling (662) 844-2111, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
