J. D. Mitchell

James Donald “J. D.” Mitchell, 50, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday, August 19, 2012, at the Tishomingo Community Living Center. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed fishing, watching movies, and spending time with his family. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, at Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church, officiated by Rev. Charles McGaughy. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Lawrence Jones, Walter Burgess, Johnny Southward, Millert Holiday, Lester Henley, Ricky Southward, and Keith Curtis. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his mother, Joe Ann Mitchell of Iuka, MS; two brothers, Myron Mitchell (Lucille) of Michigan City, IN, and Charles Mitchell of Chicago, IL; four sisters, Anita Mitchell (Walter), Cathy Pritchard (Phillip), and Doris Digby, all of Iuka, MS, and Carol Southward of Ohio; his nephews and nieces, Tyler Pritchard, Braxton Pritchard, Myron Mitchell, Jr. (Alisha), Trey Mitchell, Kiki Love, and Raelona Woodard; and a special cousin, Bobby Shannon of Iuka, MS. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorthy Common; and two aunts, Lavada Johnson and Katie Bennett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones Chapel C.M.E.
