Howard R. Bridges

Howard R. Bridges, 91, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the Tishomingo Community Living Center in Iuka. Mr. Bridges was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, during which he spent time as a prisoner of war and earned the Purple Heart. He was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed raising cattle and hogs. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Franky Smith and Bro. Perry Murphy. Interment will follow in Rutledge Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers include Johnny Hendrix, Barney Dick, Stephen Speer, Jimmy Durham, Johnny Dean Luttrell, and Jimmy Frederick. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Catherine Bridges of Iuka; three sons, Jackie Bridges and Mike Bridges, both of Iuka, and Tim Bridges of Oxford; one sister, Helen Walker of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
