Bryan Edmond Southward, born on December 15, 1966, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home in Tishomingo, MS, on Monday, March 2, 2026. He graduated as valedictorian from Tishomingo High School in 1984 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of North Alabama, graduating with honors.
Bryan dedicated several years to working as a 911 dispatcher and spent 27 years in sales, previously employed by NexAir and McBride's Garden Center. He was a charter member and former chief of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department. His love for the outdoors shone through his hobbies, which included traveling to the Smoky Mountains and mowing yards. He was a member of Paradise Methodist Church and enjoyed attending when able. Above all else, Bryan loved his family, and he deeply cherished the time he got to spend with them.
Bryan is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Kaye Southward; his mother-in-law, Sherry Smith; his brother, Jason Southward (Linda Jo); his brother-in-law, Scott Smith (Dana); his sister-in-law, Debbie Jourdan; his nieces and nephews, Brayden Southward, Molly Oaks (John), Camille Davis (Jorrod); Ellie Lockhart (Sam), Luke Smith, and Katie Jourdan; his aunts and uncles, Ruth Dawson, Dana Walker (Thomas), Neil Edmondson (Brenda), Yvonne Edmondson, and Brenda Edmondson; his cousins, Trica, Bill, Matthew, and Alexander Bates, Heather Kirk, Ethan Edmondson, Kristi Reece, and Shannon Edmondson; and a host of other loved great-nieces, great-nephews, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.O. and Carolyn Edmondson Southward; his great-grandparents, Herbert and Ora Southward and Dorlan and Jewel Edmondson; his uncles, Ronnie Edmondson, Donnie Edmondson, and James Browning; and his father-in-law, Richard Smith.
Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Neil Edmondson and Thomas Walker. Burial will be in Rutledge Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers include Matthew Bates, Alexander Bates, Channing Walker, Caleb Walker, Brandon Ezell, Artis Ezell, Jeremy Reece, Casey Kirk, Jason Southward, and Brayden Southward. Honorary pallbearers include Ethan Edmondson, Kim Dawson, Lee Brenot, Harry Bowman, Tracy Holman, Midway Volunteer Fire Department, and Carters Branch Volunteer Fire Department.
