David A. Powers, born September 23, 1943, passed into the arms of his Lord on May 19, 2026. For most of his adult life, he worked in logging and as a truck driver, where he was fondly known as "Bootlegger". His greatest passion was cooking and feeding family and friends and listening to his Bible tapes. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Land Mark Baptist Church when he was able. David was preceded in death by his wife, Gale Powers; his parents, Darvin and Mary Powers; his brothers, James and Charles Powers; and a nephew, Christopher Powers. He is survived by his daughter, Teresia Moore (Eugene); his grandsons Darrel Clark (April) and Chris Clark; two sisters, Dorlin Hall and Jackie Walker (Pete); his brother, Roger Powers (Deborah); and his best friend, Gary Gasaway (Vanessa). Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with his cremation. Memorials may be made in David’s honor to Le Bonheur Children’s Research Hospital.
