With hearts full of both sadness and gratitude, we share the passing of Denise L Shinault, who departed this world on August 17, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on March 1, 1964, in New York, Denise brought light and warmth to every life she touched throughout her 62 beautiful years.

Denise’s spirit was defined by an unwavering generosity and a kindness that she poured into the world at every opportunity. Those who knew her will remember her as a loving soul, someone who could make friends with anybody and who made each person feel seen and cared for. Her gentle presence and welcoming heart transformed ordinary moments into memories steeped in love.

A devoted Christian, Denise found deep meaning and guidance in her faith. Her conversations were rich with stories of the ways God blessed her and helped her through all of life’s seasons. Her involvement in Prayer Shawl Ministries at Iuka Methodist Church was just one of many ways she lived out her faith. With needle and yarn, she crafted not only shawls, quilts, and baby blankets, but also prayers woven into every stitch—offerings of comfort to those in need and gifts of celebration to others. Her work extended far beyond her church, as she knitted and crocheted hats, gloves, and blankets, sharing warmth with babies and those going through tough times. Her hands were rarely still, always finding ways to create beauty and give it away.

Talented in cross-stitching, embroidery, and sewing, Denise brought the same care and creativity to her crafts as she did to her relationships. Every piece was a testament to her attentiveness and loving nature.

Denise also cherished being on the water, finding joy and peace in those moments of quiet reflection or adventure.

Above all, Denise’s legacy is the love she nurtured and the compassion she shared. She filled the world with generosity, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her. Her ability to reach out, listen, and offer warmth leaves a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege to know her.

Denise’s life is a beautiful tapestry of faith, service, and friendship. Though she has left us, her spirit will continue to bless and inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the immeasurable gifts she has given us—a true example of a loving and giving soul.

Denise is survived by her son, David Shinault (Loren Whitehead); her grandson, Matthew Whitehead; her siblings, Keith Hasler, Karen Reigelsperger, and Dawn Drury; and a host of other loved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lee Shinault; her parents, David C. and Nan Lee Hasler; her great-nephew, Domonic Coschera.

Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. The family will be holding a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Iuka Methodist Church. Memorials may be made in Denise's honor to Iuka Methodist Church. An online guestbook may be accessed at www.cutshallfuneralhome.com.
