Glenda Stewart, a cherished member of her community and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Born on April 20, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee, Glenda’s life was marked by warmth, dedication, and a deep love for those around her.
A proud graduate of Humes High School, class of 1965, Glenda continued her education at Memphis State University, where she earned her degree and laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and personal growth. Her commitment to excellence was mirrored in all aspects of her life.
Glenda was a woman who delighted in the simple pleasures, finding joy in gardening, watching hummingbirds and butterflies, canning food, and engaging in square dancing—a reflection of her vibrant and spirited nature. One of her proudest accomplishments was her membership in the Eastern Star, an affiliation that underscored her dedication to community and fellowship. She was also a beloved member of Tishomingo Baptist Church.
Above all, Glenda treasured spending time with her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Aubrey Stewart; her children, John Michael Barnett and his wife, Tida, and Karen Rutledge and her husband, Dustin; as well as her step-children, Leland Stewart and his wife, Michelle, and Lana Hayes. Her legacy extends through a host of grandchildren, friends, and other loved ones who carry forward the warmth and kindness she so generously shared.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Olive Lyons, and her siblings, Betty Cobb and Wavel Hughes. Their memories live on in her heart and the hearts of those who knew her.
Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Family, friends, and members of the community are invited to pay their respects during the visitation to be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, located at 302 North Pearl Street. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Iuka at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Barnett, Bill Allen, David McCloskey, Dana Stine, Dustin Rutledge, and Dalton Rutledge.
Glenda Stewart’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and community spirit. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her. Her legacy is one of devotion to family, vibrant interests, and a heart that touched many.
