Jimmy Waymond Gist

Jimmy Waymond Gist, 80, of Iuka, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Jimmy dedicated 42 years to his career with Carrier Corp. in Collierville, TN, where he worked as a warehouse manager. When he wasn’t at work, you could find him outdoors. He enjoyed doing anything outside, especially fishing, camping, and gardening on his tractor. Jimmy was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his own back if you needed it and always had a good joke or story to tell, even if he might have already told it a couple times before. Above all else, though, Jimmy loved his family and his dog. His daughter and grandbabies were his pride and joy. 

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Jeana Wallace (Charlie); his grandchildren, Gaston Gist and Avery Wallace; his dog, Leo; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Barnes Gist; his parents, Lutie and Elijah Gist; and his siblings, Buford Gist, Rayburn Gist, and Joyce Anglin. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff members of St. Francis Park, Memphis Jewish home, and Baptist Memorial East Emergency Room for the exceptional care and support they showed Jimmy and his family during this journey.

Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, officiated by Bro. James Rich. Interment will be in New Prospect Cemetery.
