Martha Marie Simpson

Martha Marie Simpson, 79, of Cherokee, AL, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at her residence. Mrs. Simpson was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She also loved cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy W. Simpson, Sr. of Cherokee, AL; two daughters, Martha “Sissy” Nunley (Eddie) of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Laura Green (Mitchell) of Cherokee, AL; two grandchildren, Garron Green and Bailey Nunley; and a special nephew and niece, Troy Haraway and Kaylee Haraway. The family would like to acknowledge Anita LeFan, Donna Wood, and Amedisys Hospice for their care and concern during this time. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy W. “Pete” Simpson, Jr.; five brothers, Renfroe, Dan, Carl Edward, Joe, and Jerry LeFan; and a sister, Glenda Aldridge. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at Pleasant Hill Church in Cherokee, AL, officiated by Bro. Dwight Rivers and Bro. Carl Cunningham. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, AL. Pallbearers include Garron Green, Troy Haraway, Michael LeFan, Bubba LeFan, T. J. Maxwell, Billy Maxwell, and Dennis Simpson. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, and will continue until service time on Saturday at Pleasant Hill Church in Cherokee, AL.
