Richard W. Rudolph Sr., 88, passed peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by the love of his family after a life marked by devotion, hard work, faith, and unwavering love for his wife and children.
Richard was born to a generation that valued family, faith, and honest labor, principles he carried with him throughout his entire life. He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie Violette Rudolph, the love of his life, with whom he shared 52 beautiful years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Though many years have passed since her death, there was never a day that Richard did not miss and cherish her memory. Their love was a lasting testament to faithfulness and devotion.
Together, Richard and Rose embraced the Catholic faith early in their marriage and built a Christ-centered home rooted in love, humility, and service. Richard remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life and attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Richard was a devoted father to his sons, Richard W. Rudolph Jr.; Anthony Wade Rudolph and his wife, Karen; and the late Glynn Andrew Rudolph and his wife, Regina. He was also preceded in death by two infant sons, David Wayne Rudolph and another beloved child lost before birth, whose lives remained forever held in his heart.
A hardworking and respected electrician, Richard dedicated his career to his craft and was a proud member of IBEW Local 474. He retired after a lifetime of service with Tri-State Armature and Electric, where he was known for his strong work ethic, skill, and dependability.
In addition to his trade, Richard proudly served his community as a commissioned reserve police officer with the Memphis Police Department. Commissioned in 1974 by Chief of Police Bill Price, he served faithfully for many years, reflecting his deep sense of duty, honor, and commitment to others.
Outside of work and service, Richard found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who treasured time spent in nature and the peace it brought him. Whether on the water or in the woods, he carried a quiet appreciation for God’s creation and the simple blessings of life.
More than anything, Richard loved his family. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Richard W. Rudolph III, Jordan A. Rudolph (Megan), Jared A. Rudolph (Victoria), Gauge D. Nesbitt, Philip A. Rudolph, Gabriel C. Perez; and six great-grandchildren, Beckham, Declan, Greylan, Ellieanna, Andersyn, and Vivian…each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the values he instilled through his example.
Though his earthly journey comes to an end, his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited at last with his beloved Rose and those who went before him.
