Dorothy Sue Kerby, 84, passed away August 20th, 2025, surrounded by family at the Hospitality House in Iuka, Mississippi. Sue was born to J. B. “Tobuck” King and Margaret Scott King on October 18th, 1940. Sue retired from Mutual Service Corporation (formerly Titan Value Equities) where she served as Senior Licensing Specialist both in California and Florida. After retirement she moved back to Iuka and dragged her “Yankee” husband Jay Kerby with her. She was a member of Iuka Baptist Church, WMU Circle, Builders Sunday School Class, Iuka Twentieth Century Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Iuka Eastern Star #126, Iuka American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15, and the Iuka Red Hat Society. Sue’s outgoing personality made everyone feel like family and her contagious laughter brightened everyone’s day. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, singing in the church choir, all her club activities and her dog J. J.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Pam Emmons and husband, Lieutenant Commander Mark Emmons, U. S. Coast Guard (Ret.) of Paducah, KY; her brother, Lucian King and wife, Renee King, of Byhalia, MS; and two step-children, Jennifer Aracri of Lilburn, GA, and Colonel Jeff Kerby, U. S Army (Ret.) and wife, Trish Kerby, of Murfreesboro, TN, and their families. Her grandchildren will greatly miss their “Granny Sue.” They include Dr. Justin Emmons and wife, Hope, Dr. Jonathan Emmons and fiancé, Genevieve Basu, and Margaret Harris and husband, John Harris. Sue will also be missed by her three great-grandchildren, Daniel Emmons, Lincoln Harris, and Josephine Mae Emmons. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her daughter, Allen McBee; her second husband, Jay Kerby; her parents; and her sister, Barbara Cooper.

Cutshall Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. The visitation and funeral service will be held on August 26, 2025, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sue’s honor to the Tishomingo County Foster Rescue, P. O. Box 444, Iuka, MS 38852.
